If it's like the equivalent on the 7D, it becomes a lot more useful in servo mode, because that mode allows you to pick the starting focus point.

It's essentially useless in one-shot mode, though, no question there.

My first impression = They need to release the BG-E11 ASAP. I need the grip. It's certainly not terrible to hold but my hands are just big enough where the grip falling short on my palm makes it less comfortable than with the grip.

Forgot to mention, for the first time in my DSLR shooting career that I'm actually trying out and using auto-ISO.

61-pt AF is fantastic and accurate thus far.
