I was on Long Island shooting lighthouses yesterday when I found this in the parking lot at Montauk Point Light.

Nice find! It's hard to believe that they wouldn't park that in the farthest empty corner of the lot.

+1 on Rick's 'wow.' You don't see those very often. Beautiful copy of the car and very nice shots to boot. I don't think I could have resisted stealing a pic or two, either.

Great pics! Based on the steering wheel/column, stereo and a few other mods plus the way it's parked within striking distance from a mini-van I'm going to guess it's a kit like the Route 66 Roadster from Lone Star Classics rather than an original.

To be honest I had the same question run through my head when I saw it. I also suspect a replica/kit car. I was hoping someone here would spot the tell tale sign and let me know.

Speaking of copy... wrong steering wheel with tilt, hand break? really? tail pipes stick out way too far. probably made of fiberglass HAHA.
Even so, looks like a nice replica and is probably a real fun toy. |

Retro kit. Besides the stuff mentioned the 53 & 54 had only a 6 cyl engine, & the gear shift & boot didn't look like that plus the hand brake wasn't mounted there . It pulled up from under the dash. Another incorrect thing is the row of snap fasteners for the top or tonneau cover. Body fits also are way better than the originals but many old Vettes have had those made better over the years.

Now, I dont mind if its a kit car... hell all corvettes are fiberglass like most kits anyway...
But at least dont put a license plate that says 53 vett... that should be reserved for someone who actually has one. And Im sure someone who lives in NY does lol.
