Last weekend I shot a BMX Expedition. These guys could fly. This is just a small same. It was hard because of shooting into the sun. I had a flash and shot in RAW. C+C. I am not a professional. I just enjoy shooting. (I also posted these in Sports)

#1...too tight to get the context for what he's on and why he's there.
#2...nice ad for Vans. Too bad the tree is in the BG. #3...great timing catching the peak of the action. #4...HOOTERS is in focus, BMXer is soft. Leaves me with no feel for how high he's jumping. Overall, the framing of the action is good. You always left the biker a place to go in the frame. Autofocus failed to be your friend...but the AF seems to like "Hooters". I'd suggest shooting wider to capture context of scale and height. Thanks for sharing!

pic wise - non of the action shots are captured the right moment.
2nd pic - wrong place to shoot from, wrong moment. 3rd pic - wrong moment [we can forget the tree behind the back wheel. 4th pic - apart from being out of focus, it is abvious, you promote Hooters - this kind of pic should be also taken with more details - so we see the setup.

to soften my critique - as I am in bmx for more than almost 15 years myself, I just want to tell you, that anyone, who rides or understands bmx, will not like these shots. other people - who have no idea what is it and are amazed, that a guy lifts both legs crooked from the pedals - will probably like them. I dunno... I really don't want to be overcritical :]

Thank you for the C+C, I love it and I love to learn. @osh_sekta Thank you for the insight. I took many more pictures. If you have a second please look at my site www.brengmanphotography.com. Under promotions there are several BMX pictures. The guys asked me to take more and I would love to learn and get your opinion. I am not a pro and I do this for fun.
Hooters asked me to come and take some these shots. Maybe that is why I was focused on their sign...lol Thank you again. |

bjb - well. +/- in the right time there were two - jam tailwhip (862.jpg, don't crop so tight) and superman (932.jpg, but not fully extended, called "chickenlegs" sometimes). Ammm, actually looks like those guys are not the ones, who should be doing shows like that - even by missed shots it's seems they did only 360, terrible tabletops, crooked no-hands. Oh, and just aired much
If you are doing more of these, I suggest you to watch couple good and latest BMX edits - they are not long and will give you an idea of what's what. Plus, to know beforehand, what trick will be done, is also good - some should be shot from the side, some more from the front - maybe ask guys before run, or try to predict - it's pretty easy once you've seen them riding more. \m/ cpam - don't be offended :] nobody can know everything.

Absolutely no offense taken. I'm here to learn. I appreciate your comments toward the critical points of the sport.

Cool Shot! The next time I go with them I am going to stand on the ramp as they jump. I am also going to do some Motorcross with them.

#3 is great, but the background tree is a little distracting.
