![]() The 28th Annual Parker County Peach Festival, Weatherford’s largest one-day event and one of the best attended festivals in Texas, played host to an estimated 35,000 persons on July 14. Aided by temperatures about twenty degrees cooler than last year’s scorcher, as well as a bumper crop of sweet Texas peaches, people sampled all things peach, enjoyed a wide variety of live entertainment on three separate stages, and shopped at 200-plus art, craft and activity vendors. 16-plus blocks of downtown Weatherford are blocked off for the event. ![]() ![]() Hutton Farms estimated they would sell over 25,000 peaches during the nine-hour Parker County Peach Festival, Weatherford’s largest one-day event.

I freelance for my local daily paper. The middle photo above was used on the front page of today's paper, and the editor plans to use the bottom one next year to promo the 29th Peach Festival.
Since selling off my "extra" DSLR body, I've been using the G11 as my backup and second camera. I ended up taking more photos with the G11 yesterday, than I did with my 30d. As a freelancer, I try to always have a camera with me and it paid off yesterday, as the reporter assigned to the Festival submitted his work and, according to the editor in a private message, he didn't submit any pictures of any peaches...from a peach festival.

I love my 30d and what it's really good for, which is sports and other fast-moving and/or low light action, but the "snap", the contrast, the colors, the macro, and the overall usefulness make the G11 a really nice addition to my camera bag.
The Spring of 2011 my wife and I traveled to London and Paris, and I lugged around my 30d (sans grip), 85, 50, and 11-16. I thought that was a pretty functional set-up but, the next time around, the G11 and a small monopod will be the extent of the camera gear I bring.
