Default Milky Way in Central Oregon

I took this shot of the Milky Way over the Three Sisters (volcanoes) from the McKenzie Pass. I would have liked to have got a little more of the horizon in the shot, but some hippies came along and lit a fire about 20 ft from me and polluted the lava fields with light.

Amazing shot of the Milkyway!
Take a strobe flash or Cree P7 and shine it on those fire starters

At first I thought it might be cool, they might be helping light paint the lava for me.......but with exposures of 30 seconds, it was way too much light, causing flares in the lens, etc. Earlier in the day I had eaten wasabi peas, beef jerky, smoked almonds and a bbq brisket sandwich which I washed down with a liter of Mountain Dew. I had horrid gas, and the wind was blowing their way.

It was July last year, maybe midnight? That's the cool thing about central Oregon, we have really dark skies. There's an observatory not far from there. I want to dabble in EQ mounts for my camera. Anyone have suggestions for a cheapish one? This was really my first attempt at it, I don't really know what I'm doing.

Yeah. 30'seconds, f2.8, ISO 1600 with a 16-35 2.8L and a 5D II. I don't know how to do stacking yet.

Love milky way shots and this is a great one.

Note ..... Light your farts next time, if you have horrid gas it will make the hippies go!
