I need some links to where I can buy those plastic viewer covers or if someone knows how to make your own. I live in New Mexico an hate to buy out of New York and pay the postage for such a small costing product.

A cover for the LCD? I'd hate to see you waste your money on one, regardless of the shipping. The Canon LCDs are already covered with extremely tough plastic or (in the case of the 7D) glass.

Here's the concern or (here's the deal) Jon you sound like a tough guy so for the moment listen. Really, I realize I am concerned with making good, emotionally moving images every time I trip the shutter, although, for me, I have oily skin and the LCD (I'll captilize it if it deserves it) it get to be a mess so it smears and all that crap. This is the most expensive camera I'll ever own and I want to keep it in nice looking shape. Also are the LCD up to Appple stnadards with the tough glass the iPhone has?

Here's the deal.Any protective cover you put over your lcd is also going to smear. Jon's point is that what you have on your camera already is a protective cover. Should it become scratched or damaged it is easily replaced,

What camera body do you have? Not all screen protectors will fit. They make different screen savers for different bodies.
Take Care, Cheers, Patrick

That's got a user-replaceable plastic cover over the LCD. Anything that could damage that LCD cover, though, would also damage the "protector" you put over it. I've had my 5D2 for going on 3 years without any scratches on the cover, and I don't exactly baby my gear. You'll scratch up the black paint before you scratch the plastic LCD cover Canon supplied.

If your mind is really set to get an LCD protector, search eBay for GGS glass for the 5D II.
Here's one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/GGS-LCD-Glas...item5d31b15c51 |

I think you're going about this the wrong way. You're trying to combat an oily screen, but those hard covers aren't going to do anything but bring the screen closer to your face. Use an eyepiece extender and/or a HoodEye to move your face away from the screen.

At least with the hard plastic covers it'll be a $7 piece of plastic being smeared instead of the Canon protector itself

I use glass LCD protector from Giottos, it is on the expensive side but I don't like the plastic ones and Giottos claims it will not filter the colors and has 12 layers of protection. It is exact fit for the 5DMKII screen. You can buy it at B&H

Yeah, but unlike the Canon cover, the $7 screen "protector" will also be getting scratched up in no time at all.
