Default Facebook Users: How do you get your fb images to look their best online?

I'm a hobbiest who pretty much just posts photos on Facebook. My usual workflow is to resize to around 820 on the long size then sharpen to taste. I upload them and for the most part they turn out pretty good.

Just curious if anyone else has any other tips for getting the images to look better on Facebook. As they still look much better sitting in photoshop than on fb.

Thanks,

Travis

Sharpen for web, IE unsharp mask with a radius of .2-.3, theshold of 9-18, and amount 30-70%, then fade the sharpening with the mode in Luminance and give it 30-60%, whatever looks best to you.

Thanks I'll have to give that way a try and see how it compares. I normally just sharpen with the radius around .3-.5 then from 100-150% for the amount.

Don't let FB compress your images...

Upload them at the size you want to display!

How would you do that? I dont want to upload crazy hi-res but dont want murked quality either. Would that mean saving the file of the image to my choosing, then uploading as "hi-res" that Facebook chooses what I want over default compression?

The DPI setting is meaningless in this context. The number of pixels is key, along with the JPEG quality setting chosen.

DPI is only a relevant parameter to a printer. It is meaningless for web display. An oldie but a goodie:
