Everyone saying that if someone switches to Nikon it is like joining the Dark side.
NOT TRUE at all. Just sold 5D2 and bought Nikon D800e and this camera is so much better that IMHO I joined the Light side....literally. The resolution is incredible, noise practically non-existent at almost any ISO because of such a high pixel density that makes noise so small that it can't be seen. Focus, handling and everything else sis fantastic. I am still keeping 7D because of the crop factor with long lenses but if Nikon comes out with 24mp 7D type camera I might be switching completely. ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by InsaneO : 27th of May 2012 (Sun) at 11:55. |

I don't want to sound like a Canon fanboy but the first image looks like you either missed focus or just shoot it with an Ipohne... the second one is nice, I like the DOF and the details you got

What lenses did you get with your 800e?
I've been thinking of getting one to see what all the fuss is about I figure it can't hurt to have a Nikon to compliment the canon gear... Josh

The D800s are great cameras, no doubt about it but am I the only one that finds alot of the images it produce look a bit "unnatural" is the best I can describe it. I know the "digital" look has been discussed around here a bit but the great majority of the shots I've seen from the D800s do have a sort of "digital" look to me.
This isn't a criticism of the cameras because I know they have great IQ and don't have to buy them, just my observation of the output I've seen so far. Perhaps working for the last 25yrs in front of a computer screen might have something to do with it and the abuse is finally catching up with my eyes....

I don't quite get that... perhaps I'm missing something...
You want to compare a 12Mp 3 years old camera with a 36 Mp 1 month old with no AA filter. And you say the latter gives you best results because of its brand being superior...

Camera has massive detail
Photos are shot with a 50 pixel-wide strip in focus I'll wait to be impressed when I see something shot at f/16 that has a worthwhile foreground, middle and background full of massive detail.

The pic doesn't look out of focus, just looks like some faux HDR effect was applied making it look not so great.
