Default Re: ND filters for Canon 16-35 mk ii?

I find the Lee system to be the best "bang for the buck". It's more expensive than HiTech, but less than Singh-Ray. The quality is right up there with Singh-Ray though.

Good advice on the wide angle adapter, and since you said that you're willing to wait, I'd get your name on to a wait list for the Big Stopper as it can be a few months before one becomes available to you.

The Lee Big Stopper can be very difficult to find, but Hitech makes an alternative. It's not quite as good (it produces a slight colour cast) but it's a lot less expensive, fits in the Lee holder and is available. They also offer GND filters.

Singh-Ray offers 4x6 slide in filters that suit the Lee system too.

Thanks guys, really appreciate the advice.

I have one more I'd like to check out before I decide - I can get an 82mm Kenko ND400 for around $100 Aussie, I am trying to find out the quality but it is difficult. From what I gather, Hoya is labelled as Kenko in Japan, se oeffectively it is the same as the Hoya ND400 I gather? Anybody have a recommendation for the Kenko/Hoya ND400? If it is as good as the B+W ND110, then this might do me for now and I can move up to Lee later on (GND is of interest so I would love to move to Lee eventually anyway).

Might be a good read...Peter compares the Hoya (should be similar/same as the Kenko), B+W and the Lee.

I would skip the 16-35 and grab a 17-40. If your putting a 10stop on it anyway you don't need the faster aperture. It will save you on the lens and your current filters will work (77mm).

If you decide later you need the 16-35 you can easily sell it.
