And people say that the VR1 is rubbish? Your images are great. Id say its on par with the older Canon 70-200 f/2.8 L IS mkI... How do you like it on the D800? Are these cropped images?

It's a very good lens which has always been classified as on par with the Canon MK I. The Nikon VR I was reported to be sharper than the Canon in the center but suffered a bit more than the Canon in the corners. Both the Nikon and Canon were always highly regarded lenses.

The only thing IQ-wise I'm aware of that the VR II improved was the corner performance. For what I shoot I've never really noticed the corner softness and vignetting "issues". Maybe I'm just not picky enough
