Hi
Although I use mostly Canon stuff, I'm wondering if there is a forum like this one for Nikon equipment? Thanks!

Even though this forum started out as Canon centric, we are not elitist here when it comes to gear. We have a lot of active members who own a wide variety of brands.
The only Canon specific sections are the gear related ones. The rest of the forum can be used by everyone, so feel free to post your photos/questions in the relevant areas. There is a healthy discussion thread here Got a Nikon? Share your thoughts and photos here or ask a question! (II) And you're free to ask any gear related questions in here General Photography Talk Everything else can go into the other sections as applicable. New forum software is being created at the moment, which will have sections that are more relevant to other brands. |

I've never shot Nikon, but a quick search in the Internet for "nikon forum" shows a lot:
http://search.comcast.net/?cat=web&c..._SearchSubmit= One popular one is "Nikonians": http://www.nikonians.org/ But as you'll see there are plenty out there. But, keep coming back to POTN!

Though I see you say you are a Canon user but if you stay enough here, you will be a true believer in no time and once in bright side, you don't need the dark side anymore

Well, I use a Canon now but (unfortunately, to be honest) I found that overall a Nikon would be better for me (I've tried them). I might get a stills-only Nikon and keep and Canon for video (I'd rather not but might have too).
Pete, Nikon gear/cameras is exactly what I'd like to post about... Nikongear is not free for the sub forums I'm interested in. Same for Nikonians. The fredmiranda forum seems ok but an awful website... couldn't register for some technical reasons it seems (first it didn't agree to my "free" email, then it told me my username is taken, I guess because of my failed registration attempt with the "free mail, then it said my email is already taken, which I know for a fact is not, I guess because of my failed attempt with the "taken" username). Thanks

Well, I doubt that you'll get "extensive support" here for Nikon forums stuff, but you can still enjoy your stay! The Nikon thread that was linked to is still a friendly place!

Why is that? I have seen Nikon photographs, most are heavily edited. Not to say that Canon users don't do that, but that is just silly to say Nikon are better, though it may be easier to handle or to go through their menu system (I think its a mess their menu system, personally)

It's not silly and I didn't say Nikon is better. I said that after trying and comparing them, I realized Nikon is better for me. Every camera I would choose would have a set of advantages and a set of compromises. For me, the set of advantages/compromises with some Nikon models work better than with a Canon camera. I think that for some people the advantages/compromises of some Canon cameras would be better and for them Canon is better.

Nikon Cafe is about the best free all-Nikon site currently available, but honestly I'd rather just visit the Nikon thread here at POTN. There's slight differences plus or minus between Canon and Nikon systems, but gear is gear and both systems produce amazing results for anyone that is capable. IMO no other forum can touch POTN with regards to having a supportive community that helps develop that capability.
