I was at the Montreal Grand Prix this weekend and brought a Canon 70-300L 4.0-5.6 IS with me. I've been to track days with friends, but never shot anything like this before, and as an F1 fan it was on my bucket list. I was located in the grandstands at turns 6&7 and here's my take on the race so far - I haven't had much time to process photos. All images are clickable to get to larger versions at Flickr, and any comments are appreciated.

Nice series but they all look a little "dense" here...
Blacks are very heavy.

What was the light situation there? I'm a bit confused because some of them looks quite dark but still have some parts of the paint job very light. Almost a bit like objects lit by "black light" at a disco.

FlyingPhotog: Hmmm, I do like my edits "contrasty" but perhaps working on this laptop is compounding the contrast while editing and I'm not realizing it. Thanks for the tip and I'll keep it in mind.
pwm2: It was bright sun overhead and in my face basically, and then panning left and right across it, but then there was also times of thin cloud cover giving an odd cast of the sunlight. I had a CP attached for the race (had it on for half of Saturday's action) and so I'm not sure if it is giving the effect you describe, or perhaps it might be in my editing. Maybe a bit of both.

Fixed the dead links and toned down the blacks.
