Do not know if it will fit the G1x. You have to fold it into the camera with the screen facing out. I am in a manual w/c and keep the G12 on a neck strap. It constantly bangs against the armrests, anything on my lap (cans, bottles) but I have not hurt the protector or the G12 screen. |

I have my screen turned in 90% of the time as a natural protector - only having it 'out' for viewing shots or Live view if a strange angle. Priceless. And its why I'm going to buy the G12 or FZ150

Another example of when a flip out screen comes in very handy. I stick mine on top of an 18' painter's pole and shoot downward. You couldn't do this without a flip out screen very good because you'd just be guessing at the frame but with the flip out you can seen the frame then shoot it remotely:

Low Level shooting, or the dramatic on a Pole shot above are so much easier than with a typical camera. I used to have a G3, and miss that feature on my 40D. I enjoy shootiong the running gear on Steam Locomotives.
Waist Level shooting also mimics the style you would have from the days of a TLR (Twin Lens Reflex), like a Rollieflex or in my case, a Mamiya C-33. Many complain about the $800 price of the G12 or the G1X, but I think it is a bargain. (I do wish it was a slightly wider angle lens for my purposes). It is however, a truly solid feeling camera as befits its market position. It is also the same price as my G3 was back in 2002. Prices are going up on most SLRs, but the G series went down and then back to where it all started. My G3 had 2 add on Lenses and adapters, I think it all totalled up to about $1200 for the System! I used my 550EX Flash with it often. Another $450 or so, but already had it. Enjoy your G Series!

Someone mentioned that "I forget the name of anti-glare protector I use but the screen cannot be folded back into the camera. It will only fit in with the LCD screen facing out."
There is a product available on Amazon called Micro Solution Pro Guard AF that a reviewer says works fine on his 60D with the screen against the body. I would caution the use of any product however because a thin layer would likely stress the hinges. |

John from PA, that was me & I have since posted a link to the item: http://www.amazon.com/GGS-Optical-Sc...ot+G11+%2F+G12 I have had it on my G12 for a year or more (?) and have no problems with the hinges or scratches on the protector or the screen even thoough it is on a strap on my neck, often hits my w/c armrest, or whatever is on my lap (cans, bottles, women

Bought it because it had the flip out screen. Love it!
Getting old and don't enjoy trying to get up after laying on the ground for a low angle shot. Love the flip out screen because I can simply bend over and hold the camera low! Especially in winter in Yukon ... don't want to lay in the snow at all!

When I got my G12, the screen was a non-issue. But got to love it!! Just because of the G-12's screen I'm going to replace my long ago sold Rebel XTi with a Rebel T4i. No more laying on my stomach trying to shoot macros low to the ground.
BTW: A flip screen is WAY better than using a 90-degree viewfinder on a DSLR when shooting at odd angles.

I love the screen as well. I spent all Sunday on shooting landscapes with a gorillapod low to the ground with a 1000D, and the lack of G12 style screen was a real pain!
I'd love to upgrade to a full frame camera but I don't know of one with this type of screen |

I like the Canon G12 because it has a functional and distinct 28-140mm lens with useful stabilization and I have no issue at all with its Flip out screen feature.

The flip out screen does come in handy and being able to fold it away or have live view on the back of the camera is cool. I am worried that it's going to get broken of at some point though. I also like the fact that I can still use the viewfinder, even though it may not be the most accurate for framing...
