Default Baseball 1st post

This is my first post on this fourm. I have been reading and getting a lot of information about sport shooting. Been trying some baseball the last few months. Just have to get better on the timing

This photo from High School playoffs. Shot through the fence.

Welcome to the forums. Cool shot too, can't see the fence.

Sports forum is a bit hard to gain responses. So don't worry if you don't get many replies in here. "People" generally does the most, for lots of responses.

Good luck for future shots

Miner, good shot. I like shooting baseball a a lot myself too. I go to Astros games fairly often here, and shoot form the stands. With a 300mm lens and decent seats, it is possible to get some very good shots. My son played baseball for years and I really enjoyed shooting the games. Shooting through the fence is just something we have to deal with. but certainly very do-able. I don't see what camera you have. I just got a 20D and the fast autofocus and 5fps is a real boost for sports photos.
Keep shootin'.

Deezeljuice thanks, I have a 10D and this one was shot with a 70-200L f4. My son is just entering high school next year. He loves to play the game. So I thought I would try some baseball this year. Still need to work on my timing.
Here's another shot with him at bat. Fouling one off.

Very nice shots, considering you were shooting through the fence. Your exposure is very good as is the color. I have two baseball games and a softball game to cover this week and am praying for sunny skies.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Liza and okiebass, my son plays on the Junior Varsity. This is one of the local towns high school fields. They built a new one a couple of years ago. It is very nice field.
Here's another one same game.

Miner - welcome to POTN......

The shots are really nice for a start. The only thing I would have you do a little different is on the first shot, had you moved over about 4 or 5 feet the light poll would have rotated out of the shot making it a little cleaner. It's those little details that take a shot from good to great.

The 10d can be a challenge to shoot with because it does have some shutter lag, but like your doing with practice you can anticipate the shot and still get it done. Looks like you are doing just fine. keep at it and share some more.
