Default Re: Olympus OM Micro Four Thirds camera!

I picked one up last week, and I am pretty impressed. I had an E-P3, and I thought it was fast. The EM5 is even faster. It just feels like a really responsive camera. The shutter is also pretty quiet as well which I like.

I don't shoot sports or anything with fast action, but the EM5 does a good job of tracking faces. I took some pics of some family when they were on a porch swing swinging back and forth, and it didn't have a problem tracking their faces through the movement of the swing. That is probably not a great example, but it may be helpful to some people who are looking to use this camera as a family camera.

I have a 60D, but like a lot of people have said, it was a pain to carry around for casual use. I can throw the EM5 in my wife's purse or my daughter's diaper bag, and I am not sure my wife or I would notice the weight. However, if I stuck the 60D in there, I am sure we could tell that there is a big ole camera in there.

The camera looks a lot bigger than it is in real life. The same thing with "big" m4/3 lenses. The diameter of the lenses make them coat pocketable, but most of the lenses are tiny.

These are in aRGB not sRGB so the colors are off

Stopped on the way home. The two lone trees looked better in my head than it came out but here it is anyways.

It looks like I may be holding onto my 5D a bit longer until I can actually find one of these to purchase! It looks like the whole world is jumping on these.

(I shouldn't neglect the option of buying one with the 12-50mm off Ebay for $200 more than any other stores! :P )

I suppose they can only get better

Not much my friend... Wife has had me doing lots of yard work. It is 112F today so I got a break finally from a saturday workday at home.

Nice I got the 12-50 kit, really like the lens. I had a 40-150 but it was not my cup of tea, it was way to soft for my liking. I Added the grip, fro me it a made s big different in handling. I hope to get a 45 1.8 and 75 1.8. I am debating on the 75-300.

I a in search of a bag myself. I saw on B&H that Olympus actually just released a bag designed for the OMD with grip and a few lens's. I might try that route myself..

Let me know what you think of the OMD when you get it.

Bag: Get an insert and use any old bag (inexpensive route) or get a Hadley Small. I have the Pro and the Digital, the small would suit what you are looking to carry.

Here is the digital

Will do my friend, I am super excited about this camera. I find myself leaving my 1D at home most of the time so I was looking for something with good IQ that I can take anywhere.

112F, wow, keep it there! Thanks for the head's up on the Oly bag. This is what I have been longing for. Unfortunately no reviews, but immediately ordered one from B&H. If the availability of the bag follows in step with the camera they will be sold out in a heartbeat. Loving my EM-5, no negatives as yet except the (non)availability of accessories. Desperately wish a 2nd battery for the grip!

Same here. Got tired of lugging my 87lb pelican box full of lens's and bodies on vacation then decide I didn't want to walk around 5-8 hrs a day with my d800 or d700 around my neck. So the camera gear ended up staying in the cabin or hotel room. I have been keeping the OMD in my console of my car the last week or so and grab it when driving when I see something interesting.

jemanner

Yeah we have had unusually hot weather this week and coming week in SC. I am ordering the Oly bag tonight myself. I agree they need to get batteries out to the mass one is a pain in the butt.
