Default Portable Digital Audio Recorder in a tux for audio???

I have a Tascam DR-08 recorder that sounds great. Could I utilize this with a lavalier mic on a groom with the recorder in an inside pocket? I'd have to set the audio levels beforehand and I couldn't monitor it though. Tradeoffs? I will be using a Sony hx9v (on tripod-recording full ceremony) and a 5dmkII closer to the couple with myself using a 60d for background shots.

Is this a possible solution. I can set the recorder and switch the HOLD button on. It's thin enough too. Thanks all!

I have heard of many doing exactly that as (assuming you remember to switch it to record) it can be a good solution.

The downside is, as you have suggested, once you have sent it on it's way you have no idea if it worked or not until you get it back afterwards. That can be very disconcerting and I would certainly try to have a back up which, while the quality might not be as good, will be better than no recording at all.

The other problem is, if the recorder works, you will have massive chunks of audio which will need to be trimmed down and then matched to the images - you may loose the will to live before completing the project.
