Have you covered them headlining before? Their lighting is horrific. Black with back-lit strobes.

When they headlined, it was a really tough shoot. When they opened for the Chili Peppers, the lighting was similar, except they had some front lighting. It actually felt like redesigned their lighting with the same feel, except a photographer had a say in what they do. It was quite perfect.

i did check out the two galleries in POTN...looks like some good shots are possible even w/ the fast strobes but if she's moving around a lot, then yeah...bulb might not work too well. still, i think i'll give it a shot.

ok...that was a really fun, challenging shoot. I probably shouldn't share this, but here's the raw data...we got the standard 3 songs (3rd was *really* short, but overall we had 10 minutes, so that's not too bad) and i shot 429 images. of those, 181 were tossed immediately in the bin.
but the good news is that i got more than enough keepers. this show definitely had me running and gunning a lot more than usual. luckily there was only one other shooter in the pit (3rd of July, i guess), but there was a staircase in the middle of the pit for her to get down close to the fans that blocked one side, and i never bothered to head over there. she didn't use the stairs until after the 3rd song. |

Getting ready for 4 days of frantic movement all around New York City with the CBGB Festival. Venues range from the smallest hole in the walls to Central Park and Times Square. All while live tweeting.
It will either cure or kill me.

It was Comanechi tonight, awesome as usual. They were supporting Gossip. Don't find Gossip interesting enough to photograph, so asked the band themselves for the shoot rather than Gossip's publicist

Very high, but the pit is equally deep.

Wasn't sure I was doing this because of the previous night debacle (another of those I was suppose to be on the list, yet never appeared on the list scenario) it was Dawes, with two surprising support acts
