Thanks lads. Just found out last night that I've got great tickets for tomorrow, right where the players walk off court and signatures are given. Can't wait for this opportunity.

Weird that I should peruse the Sports forum at this precise time, i.e. the night before the women's final! I took in my 70-300mm lens (Olympus) for early round centre court matches at Wimbledon in 2009 and there was no problem. Alhtough I was way up in the stands, I got great shots of Federer and Murray, who conicidentally, are in Sunday's final!

Enjoy!!

Hi all

I've been lucky enough to get tickets to the women's final at Wimbledon this year and I want to take my telephoto lens (70-300). I've never been to a tennis event like this so I wondered if anyone could share any information regarding the allowance of such a lens.

Their website simply says:
PHOTOGRAPHY AND FILMING
The use of photographic equipment must not inconvenience any other person in the Grounds. Still photographs, film, videotape or other audio-visual material recorded within the Grounds may not be sold or used commercially in any way whatsoever unless authorised by the AELTC and may be confiscated by the AELTC if such sale or commercial use is suspected. AELTC shall own all intellectual property rights in materials taken or recorded in the Grounds.

Now, I can definately ensure that I don't inconvenience anyone but I'm a bit worried about some guy checking my bag at security and saying "you can't come in with a long lens".

What are your experiences?

Firstly it's the 'Ladies Final' (remember you are in England :) ) However you're unlikely to suffer ignorant fools at Wimbledon. It's not the local scrap and scar club soccer league out looking to nobble a few locals. Wimbledon is the pinnacle of the worlds tennis arena and I'll bet as long as you look ok they'll let you in.

This is a world class arena tho and expect they will demand you follow the rules. The Olympics are second class to these folks.

There were a bunch of empty seats at the women's doubles final. Did you post any shots?
