Default Quick comparision with a wasp





One of these was taken with a compact camera and the other with a DSLR. I'll let you guys figure out which is which
(the first is a stack of 2)

Not fair to compare a stack verses a single shot, but I would go with pwm.

I also think #1 is the SLR shot. #2 has more depth of field which I think you get with compact cameras. They are both good detailed shots.

i don't know which was done with what, but they're beautiful. great detail and i like the contrast in color of wasp/leaf

Wrong
first was shot with a G9 and a close-up filter, the second with the XSi

I think it's ok since it's not a dof specific comparision, it was needed to make that image usable, otherwise just one eye in focus. Still the stack did not biased anyone into thinking it was from the compact due a increased depth

Just trying to show what can be done on the cheap, got that used G9 for U$180 about two months ago and am pretty happy with the macros I'm getting with it, on minimal ISO it's very comparable to a dslr quality

Great example. When a shot doesn't work out for me, I tend to want to blame my equipment, but I appreciate seeing examples like this once in a while to remind me that a good photographer can make amazing images with the cheapest equipment available. Guess I have to keep practicing
