Default Looking for sights in Texas

Hi Guys

I'm planing on going on a trip to Texas and I'm looking for some hints on where the good sights are.

The trip is in conjunction with a 4 days seminar held in College Station, but I'm planing on extending the stay for a full three week.

My plan is to rent a car when I arrive and keep it the entire time, It's not a big deal if I'm forced to travel/drive alot, as my current work includes driving upto 800 miles a day, when visiting customers.

So to put it short, I'm arriving at College Station, staying there for a total of 5 days, here it'll only be the late night hours that are free, as the majorety of the time is spent beeing educated, the following 12 days are free to be used anywhere around Texas or in the nearby states, just as long as I'm back in College Station for my return flight.

Looking forward to your suggestions for a trip like this.

A trip to Central Texas would not be complete without visiting San Antonio which is considered the cradle of Texas Liberty due to the heroic defense of the Alamo. San Antonio also has River Walk, the Longhorn Bar as well as many other photogenic attractions...

Austin, the Texas Capital, is another place worth visiting.

Both San Antonio and Austin are an easy drive from San Antonio...

Palo Duro Canyon near Amarillo
Big Bend National Park (long drive, but worth it)
Inner Space Caves (1/2 hour north of Austin)
Brazos Bend State Park if you like wildlife (1hour south west of Houston),
Texas Ranger Museum in Waco
Look for Rodeos (great photo opps)
