Do you guys have any suggestions on lighting or posing for models with 4x4 trucks? I was asked to do a shoot at a local offroad park so it will be outside. I guessing early evening cuz of the harsh light during the day. I have 3 speed lights and 2 soft boxes with stands.

Light the models to hell with the trucks.
It is hard to say how I would shoot it without knowing what kind of truck or where you are shooting it or what look you are going after. To be honest with that amount of light, I would composite the truck and light it up looking good, then bring the model in and use all 3 to light them, then combine them.

hard to be specific, but I would light the truck with the bare speedlite (s) and use the softbox on the model. Depending on your angle, one speedlite on the front, one on the side and of course one with your biggest softest modifier on the model.

The trucks are most likely be a big mud truck. 70's ford on 44in boggers. About 8-12 in of lift. Right now not sure what look they want but the focus will be ok the girls with a truck behind them. It will be done in a canyon so mountains all around us with plenty of shade spots. With a bare flash would I have to worry about any reflections from the speedlites? I can rent a bigget soft box since I only have a 28 in Apollo.

What's your experience at this point lighting full length and also lighting vehicles? Experience with flash only and flash/ambient? To be honest it sounds like a handful even with the right equipment. Pi has a great suggestion, especially if you've got some PPing skills.

I'd still put the truck where the light on it looks it's best. We used to shoot cars & models in the studio with 30 second exposures & they had no problems "holding" during the shots, so try that first without using the strobes. Take a 2nd shot with the softboxes to both sides to just add a little highlight to the sides of the models. Repeat that for each set-up you shoot, & if you get any ideas during the shoot, include them, too. Good luck!

I usually do natural lighting but have some experience with flashes, not an expert by far. Ya pretty easy to clone them.
