Can anyone tell me the shallowest case in the 16xx series that can still take a 300mm f/4 IS (221mm Long) stored vertically? Will it squeeze into a 1610 or do I have to opt for a 1620? Have looked at sample images and done some guesstimating based on my 1510 and it seems like a coin-toss as to whether it will fit or not.
And a related follow-up question - does anyone have any idea why this image of the European Peli 1620 (1624 technically) shows a different padded divider setup that would basically leave no room for long lenses stored vertically on one side? has this site got the wrong picture or are these divider sets for the 1620 out there somewhere? http://www.outdoorgb.com/p/63x49x35c...oof_case_1620/ ![]() |

1) Measure the length of your lens and use the Pelican Case Calculator: LINK
2) There are alternate padded divider setups out there for some Pelican cases as Pelican does not make them for their cases but rather outsources them to another company and just bundles them with their cases. However locating the different ones will be a bit of a pain and the cost will likely be much greater.

Also take into consideration how much that case weighs EMPTY.... They start getting pretty heavy.... I lay the lenses down mostly.

The EF 300mm f/4 will fit vertically in the 1610.

Sorry I missed the replies. Many thanks for the answers.
Appreciate the info Dave. 1610 it is! Mark, will just be using the case for studio storage and long-distance transport so I should be able to live with the weight. I can always load up the 1510 for assignments. |
