Hello,
I have a collection of about 40 images on a new website I created. Its intention is to be an online portfolio of work.[b] Please Help me to Critique and eliminate work that I may be numb to as times has passed since my photography degree. www.jhkepchar.wix.com/kepchar Have at it! Thanks to anyone for helping!

what type of work are you looking for? to me, they are all random images for the most part, but very very artistic. You seem to be the type that can sell your own work as an artist. Is that what you are going for?
But if you were using it as a portfolio for events, weddings, architectural, birthdays, fashion, clothing...I would not hire you. |

Stayhumble, Thank you for the critique, and your compliments!
You're right, my primary interest in photography is "fine art" (I don't really like that term though..) To answer your question i am looking to be recognized as a visual artist. Are there any images that you, or anyone, think should not be included (up to par) with the others??

Thanks CMC,
The shot of the 3 ladies I don't really connect with much ether.. but.. it was on the front page of the Mecklenburg Times and their art director said she really liked the shot. For that reason alone it is included. Thanks for the critique thought, it may have to go.

Background needs to go. When viewing in a "gallery," there's usually a neutral color. That or just white.

still not exactly sure what it is you want to do, only because im not fully familiar with all the terminology though i am a photographer by profession.
But if telling you which photos i think are poor, I can do that. -3 women holding sign. very random let alone poor image. nothing aesthetic in my eyes. -man holding sign. again very random and poor image. looks more like a plug. very flat and poor dynamic range. -wood cutter photo is nice except the man has a very awkward facial expression that totally kills the picture. doesn't look like he belongs in that room either.very nerdy/goofy look doesnt match with industrial tools/craft every thing else is extremely beautiful in my eyes. the soft somber mood you get from some is very nice. strong images/compelling. very exquisite lighting. I don't think you'd have much trouble selling those as long as you have a solid presentation and decent marketing skills. i'd have to say the website in itself looks poorly done though. a bit annoying when backing out of photo and it goes all the way out to the main galleries. |

Before you do anything else loose the music. Scale your slideshow photos so they show at a proper resolution, they are pixely and OOF looking.
Typically the best advice you can get is to find your niche and excel at it. You said your focus is fine art, but right now you're kind of all over the place. I see lifestyle, product, portrait , photojournalism, fine art and landscape/outdoors. I would suggest narrowing to two of those categories (and not photojournalism, those are your weakest shots IMO). I think your "Things" category is your strongest. Also, fix it so the filenames of the images don't show up anywhere, that's tacky and unprofessional.
