The 50mm 1.2 is pretty good lens. I am not sure what they could upgrade in it... Maybe make the glass to match Zeiss quality....

Hopefully Canon will shake things up with the release of the 50mm f/0.9L lens! (for $10k probably)

How about sharper wide open? I mean as sharp as the 85L and 135L. And how about no focus shift?

I'm sure there is more to add.

Considering it took Canon 17 years to replace the 85L with the 85L II, and the 24L II came out just 10 years after the 24L, we might get a 50L II as early as 2016 or as late as 2022.
