Default Desert in B&W

Took a trip to Joshua Tree Nat'l Park. The color shots came out ok, but I downloaded a demo of Nik Silver Efex to see how it did. Got more grain/noise than I'm happy with, but think they came out ok. This is my first real experience with black & white stuff.

Comments/criticisms appreciated.

Thank you both. It was a productive trip. I hope to go back again around December when it's not near as hot.

Nice set, out of all of them I like the road one best, it might be boring but there is just something about it that strikes a chord with me.

Thanks Rick.

Appreciate it Lloyd. It's funny how different shots come out. I've always been partial to road shots. I know they have all been done before, but there's just something about the leading lines, skies and texture that can really be capture with them. Not to mention no 2 road looks alike, so there's always new shots to be found.

Thanks. Originally, that wasn't one of my keepers just because I felt the tree and the tire made the picture too busy, but I processed it anyways just to get feedback.

People's taste always differ and of course I'm always my own worst critic.

Awesome contrast on all of these! I really like the one with the palm trees.

A good set, although I personally feel 2 and 3 are significantly stronger than the rest, as they're more dramatic and evocative. I particularly like the low POV of 2, as it really pulls you into the image.
