Default Small/lightweight Tripod

I already have a Manfrotto 055ProB with 498RC2 head. This is a great combo but I find it a bit big/long to travel with. I love it and it's great for what I use when I'm home or traveling by car.

It will hold up a 60D (I'll leave the grip at home) and my heaviest lens is the 70-200.

My budget is around the $250-$300 for a travel tripod. This will not be a primary tripod but a travel and it's getting to the point where I want to do more night shots and I need a tripod for that.

One option is the Manfrotto 190 series 4section with a smaller head from what I have seen at stores. It felt strudy but then again, it did not have a camera. It's pretty compact, around 23-25 inches with a head closed up.

Benro A2691T is another option but I have yet to hold one or see one since I cannot find a store with one. I know they make great stuff but I want to see what others say about this one compared to the Manfrotto 190.

What other options are out there?

I really like my Feisol 3441 but it's about $88 above your limit. Unfortunately with tripods, it seems like the less they weigh, the more they cost.

Exactly. Those two seem to be the only ones within my budget but still strong enough to hold my gear.
If this was a primary tripod then I would spend a but more but this is only for my travels.
I have looked at Feisol as well but didn't mention them because it was out of my budget.

Understandable. I didn't mean to completely disregard your budget, but just threw it out there as a down the road option if you went that way. Best of luck finding something.

I know.
I also know you get what you pay for but my wallet is also limiting me.

Here is a review of a Benro I did. This one is a little above your price range. But It's perfect for what you are looking for. Now, I wouldn't link something that far from your range without a reason. They make an aluminum version that is much less expensive, and not too much heavier.

Carbon Ver: 345$
Alumin Ver: 209$

Ebay Link to Alum. Ver.

You can also find it on amazon, but this ebay seller is great as well

Hope this helps. There is a chart on the ebay listing comparing all their versions and weight.

THANKS. I have an idea of the size because I have the exact bag. I would go for the Aluminum version. CF is not that far out of my price range but I rather not go over if I do not need too. Looks like that might be a winner.
Also, I did not read much because I'm on my phone looking at this but was your bag loaded with gear? Or empty? It looks pretty study.

Use your money on just a new tripod. You can use the head that you allready have.

"loaded" wouldn't be the best word. It had my equipment in it. But it wasn't as heavy as possible. The tripod is quite sturdy for a travel pod. I think if you bought the aluminum version you would be very surprised. Also don't forget that these are basically benro
Tripods made in the same place. And are considered a top tier brand. Hope this helps

Sorry for hijacking the thread, but I was looking at Benro A1691 legs with Giottos MH-1301 ballhead.

I was also looking at Sirui N-1004 legs with Sirui K-10x head.

Any recommendations for either combo?
