I will be updating my 7d later tonight and see if I can notice a difference with my style of shooting.

I don't agree with the doubters of improved ISO noise reduction. I didn't do any tests but after 40k shutter count, from 800 to 6400 has improved. Just my eyes?

I have just updated mine. Haven't tested it yet thoroughly but the auto ISO setting is great.

Updated mine successfully as well.
I don't feel like I have enough time with my 7D before the new FW to have a credible voice relative to the noise, but I took some test shots @ 3200 tonight that looked pretty damn good. ![]() 100% ![]() These aren't in any way scientific, but I'm pretty happy with the results. For me, the jury is still out on high ISO noise. I need to do some searching through old images to see if I can find any that could be repeated for comparison. Something else to consider when making comparisons is to reprocess the old image with the current software being used. The newer versions of DPP, LR, and ACR all have better NR. My latest version of NeatImage is also a bit better at high ISO noise reduction.

Ever since the firmware upgrade, Im able to hold the camera more steady, I am able to manually focus as fast as the auto-focus system, and have noticed an increase of about 2 stops of Dynamic Range. I'm lovin it!

Okay, first of all, Canon has not changed the raw NR values that go into the JPG in-camera and to DPP on the NR tab, so they didn't do anything there.
I have run some tests and since I am quite aware of how this 7D acted before the update, what I think I see is the following. General noise isn't really any different, what I see is typical of what I had gotten from 3200, 6400 and 12800 before the update. However, there may be one difference and perhaps this is what others might be noticing, but I need to do some more testing. In dark and shadowed areas, the 7D would typically start to show "dirty" spots, like random black noise that dirtied up the photo. I am not sure if I see those any more, or they are reduced. However in lighter areas of high ISO, I see no real difference, at least not after a few test shots as compared to 3200/6400/12800 shots I did at the game the night before.

I just installed 2.0.0 and took some jpegs at ISO 6400, 1/50, f/8.0 before and after the firmware upgrade. I see no difference in the noise with the jpegs straight out of the camera.

I did but it takes a second exposure with the shutter closed of the same length so if you have a 15sec shutter speed, you will have to wait 15 secs after that to take another picture.

Add another to the update list. Only did a few pics around the house, but it seems noise wise about the same to me.
I was faster on my evening run tonight though
