I have 01 and I bought 02 last night (with 50% off).

For $59 it's worth the upgrade but had I spent the full $119 I would be quite disappointed. 02 offers almost twice as many film presets as 01 but I feel 01 is better overall.

With 02 they seemed to have focused on making most of the presets with a low contrast feel. I guess that's cool if that's the look you are going for.

I also have Nik Software too. I'd say both Nike Software and VSCO have their place equally however the major selling point for me with VSCO is the extreme ease of batch processing and previewing various presets instantly. This is huge for me especially when editing weddings.

I live and breathe VSCO film...and stayed up till 3AM re-editing shoots the night their no. 02 pack came out :P

love. love. love. For me, this second set compliments the first in ways that I didn't think it could. The whites are brighter, the colors tone changes are more prominent, and there is a deeper contrast that the first didn't have, in my opinion. Dare I say more emotion, especially in the b&w's? I'll continue using both sets in my editing from now on.

I did a before/after post on my blog, in case you're interested http://www.sarahcusson.com/2012/08/v...ore-after.html

That's interesting as I found the first VSCO set to have more contrast and be somewhat darker per se.. are you using Lightroom or ACR Sarah? Though I doubt there's anything different between the 2..

I'm using LR4...though I wouldn't assume there's a difference, either

I think I may need to withdraw my previous statements (sort of). I began editing a wedding from this past weekend and I agree 02 certainly compliments VSCO 01. The Kodak emulations are just wonderful and give very deep colors without being too contrasty.

Which out of these emulation is best to achieve this kind of look? The woman is fantastic, though I'm certain this is medium-format film camera...

http://www.jenhuangblog.com/

How does she get so light imagery. The greens have a huge cyan shift and everything is just pastely(sp) and gorgeous

VSCO 01 and 02 would be a good starting point to achieve similar results like those on the site. Keep in mind however that white balance, proper exposure, ect all play a bigger role in getting that "film" look than simply applying any old preset. A medium format camera will (theoretically) give you more detail and a higher dynamic range but that should have no bearing on how you edit.

When you say white balance... do you mean getting it correct or doing creative white balancing? I always use my neutral expo-disc and try to get it perfect for what it was like when I took the pic.
