Hello there,
I've decided to buy both Canon S100 and 650D / t4i. However, I planned to buy one at the time, the other one would have to wait for another 3 months. I am buying ONE today and I can't decide which one to go with first. 1. Canon Powershot S100 2. Canon t4i / 650D Thank you very much. I mean, I know if I wanted a more pocketable one, I'd go with the S100. Cross out that reason ! I just want to know if it was you to decide which camera between these two to buy first, which one would you go with? |

You have to look at what your immediate needs are. Do you need a pocketable camera now, or do you need an SLR now? I would not like to give up either because both have their place.

I personally would go for the T4i. I can deal with lugging my camera around and not having a pocketable camera. I see the pocketable as being a "luxury" (although having a DSLR is a luxury item as well
If you are new to the whole DSLR / manual setting thing, buying either works as well. You learn the basics of exposure on one, and it's quite easy to transfer that knowledge to the other platform. |

I would buy the s100, have fun and learn the controls,(av, m, p, etc).....you can then get the dslr and know the range and what you want to shoot, and lens you need.

I'd say the S100 first. Get to know all the controls and settings and you'll have a good idea of the range you prefer after shooting for awhile. It will help with lens choices for the 4Ti
Edit: ^ dang you beat me to it..lol
