Default EF 35 1.4L II ?

I hope there's not another thread for this (haven't seen one and did a search already) but found this quickly looking through CR. Labeled CR2 so there might be something behind this.

I was digging into the history of this lens and I discovered that it took Canon FORTY YEARS to update its S mount f/1.5 design to the present 35L!

Long story short: Don't hold your breath!

I find the 35L much like the 135L.... basically perfect so why update even at their age? Sure you can add sealing and stuff but it is not needed really. These two lenses are some of Canons best.

They can leave them as is and also release (much more expensive) updated IS versions like the 70-200 families (f/2.8 and f/4)

The 35L is good, but its not perfect. It has some CA wide open and vignetting wife open too. Bar that, it's amazing. The CA is easily fixable with Canon's DLO and Vignetting is easily fixed in any RAW app.

Don't worry considering the cost of mark 2's the current 35L is a good deal.

I hope it's an IS lens so they can leave the current 35L in production.
But, if it's really called "35L II" I'm afraid it's not.

The release of the Sigma 35 1.4 makes this a whole lot more interesting
