Default Photographs in Afghanistan

Off to Afghanistan next week. KAF. Is anyone here familiar with the rules for taking photographs? I've heard that a) It's no problem b) just don't take pics of patrols or security installations and c) You aren't allowed to take any photographs period. I think b seems to the reasonable answer but I'd like to know from someone who's been there, done that. Thanks

For the most part, you can take pictures of almost everything...within reason. The perimeter area, towers, gates, etc... will have the base defense force questioning. Make sure you ask the chain of command when you get there and also, if its your first time there, you'll get a security brief of all the ins and outs as well as what to do during xyz situations.

Ask the personnel giving these briefs.

Many thanks man. I was even worried about bringing my stuff in the first place. This sounds more in line with what I was expecting. You with PPCLI?

Also, just a general tip to throw out there: If someone looks like they don't want their photo taken, or you get a feeling you shouldn't photograph something, trust your instinct and put the camera away. If its an English speaking person, put the camera away first, then maybe ask them if its ok to take pictures or not.
