Default Motogp Indy 2012, need some advice

This is the first time I'll be shooting at Indy and would like some advice from anyone with experience shooting motogp there. I have media credentials as I will be shooting for a small magazine and am wondering what are some of the good turns, etc. to shoot? I've thought of following the pack or looking where other photographers are shooting but any tips would be appreciated.

I've read the safety info, good info. I've also done some corner work before so many of the same safety rules apply, so I'm not un-familiar with them.

Expect that you'll always need to aim through a fence, but there are locations where the fencing has been removed to make a clear narrow slot.

The infield turns from Turn 6 through Turn 9 offer good locations looking from the north to the south, such as these:

Also, for race starts, look for the location outside Turn 2 at the south end of the infield, which offers this view.

And, of course, bring a long lens, 300mm is short by the standards of the locations you'll find at the Speedway.

I'll be using a 300mm f2.8 canon lens with the canon 2x converter and an EOS 60D, so I'm hoping I have enough reach.

Thanks for the tips.

Having actually gone to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, there's a location at the far south end of the track that allows a good look at the final hairpin turn leaving the infield section.

Focal Length: 403.0mm
Aperture: f/8.0
Exposure Time: 0.0063 s (1/160)
ISO equiv: 100
Exposure Bias: none
Metering Mode: Matrix
Exposure: shutter priority (semi-auto)
White Balance: Auto
Flash Fired: No (enforced)
Orientation: Normal
Color Space: sRGB

However, to get a useful image from this location takes a long lens and shooting through a fence. One credentialed photographer in this area was using a 600mm lens.

I took some shots from that point, I had credentials so I was shooting through the opening in the fence. To get the shot above, you're right, you would need a 600. I was shooting with a 300 which still worked pretty well.
