Where are all these 35L owners that keep trash talking the sigma that you keep referring to? Even if there are folk out there trash talking the sigma do you not see the irony in the fact you have now created a thread to trash talk the 35L? Even more irony in the fact that you titled it "let it go"

Threads like this really bug me, your (OP) attitude is totally wrong. And this isn't the words of a disgruntled 35L owner. If the sigma was out when I bought my 35L I would probably have gave it a try. I've now got the 35L And I'm happy with it. Far from a dinosaur.

Get on with your life and start taking photos.

Yea just let it go why do you care if people like the 35L. Seems like you're trying to justify your own purchase to yourself...

No, we will think what you tell us to think since that's the point of this thread after all.

Of course not to mention build quality, AF accuracy, weather resistance,etc......

??? So far all reports show the Sigma having at least as good of build quality as the canon, AF accuracy to be of no issue, and both have equal amounts of weather sealing (that would be none!)

Sigma has a bad rep for quality and so far all indications show that sigma is really taking a stand to correct that and hit one out of the park with this lens

Fact is both are good lenses, both will have fan boys, and both will have haters.

So OP is concerned because we paid more for our 35L when we could have gotten a "better" lens for less? Never knew strangers on the Internet were so thoughtful! Thanks OP!

Nike, can you show me where in my post I mentioned anything like that?

I wish I could find a 35L for 1,200 maybe used. Regular price is $1,479

sgtbueno wrote in post #15364714 (external link)
Brand new? Never seen one for that price.

there you go... ive always seen them go on sale around the holidays. i bought mine a few years ago for 1200 brand new at adorama around this time also

http://www.amazon.com …/cpw-20/?me=ATVPDKIKX0DER (external link)

of course amazon charges tax now... at least for tx they do. i dont know about anywhere else or if its everywhere.

i would pay an extra 300 for peace of mind and consistency. probably bc ive had many issues with sigma lenses before. but if you have a good one keep it.

while I can now agree that the point of this thread was to troll the 35L and its users, there's an equal amount of unwarranted sigma 35 trolling.

Calling the sigma 35 "inconsistent" or "a lottery buy" is simply BS. Sigma 35's have been flying off the shelves and I've yet to see a SINGLE occurrence of a faulty lens.

It IS true that the sigma 35 is sharper in the center and sharper at the corners than the 35L by a significant margin(I'd say that being as sharp @ f1.4 as the 35L is @ f2 is pretty significant).

It IS true that the sigma 35 is $300+ cheaper than the 35L.

However, the 35L is STILL a great lens. If you prefer the bokeh of the 35L then, by all means, own a 35L. If you prefer owning something with a red ring because it makes you feel good then, by all means, own a 35L.

Don't bash the 35L for being expensive, it's always been expensive, but you pay premium money for a premium product. The sigma 35 is ALSO expensive, albeit less so than the 35.

Don't bash the sigma 35 for "inconsistency and AF problems" when it has none.

you see, this is a negative post. you ASSUME 35L owners care that the sigma is a great lens. I am telling you in plain English. I don't care. most others don't care.

it's your assumption that exposes you.

Agree. I might add that OP is still bitter at Canon for making the 35L way out of his reach. And even now he's able to get a fast 35mm lens made by Sigma, he still can't stand it and want to mock the 35L by calling it a dinosaur lens. Yes he read it online how great it is but he doesn't even have it and he's already attacking the 35L and it's users. You need to go back and read your post again if you think otherwise.

the fact that sigma is able to produce a great lens that as far as i've seen hasn't had a single negative thing written about it...is only good for all of us...

david,
go for it, just look at the samples with have here in this board and a Fred Miranda, you will not go wrong.
I order mine from amazon, will arrive here on Tuesday.

Wait. You haven't received your Sigma 35, and you are already degrading the 35L? LOL

Also, it's funny how many people, who haven't owned/used the 35L, jumping on the Sigma bandwagon and bashing the 35L.

I've had a fair share of Sigma lenses, and I will probably own another Sigma lens again. But I now might give a Sigma 35 a try since many people are RAVING about it. :D
