Very nice Destin.

Here is one from last year when the 7D and 28-300L were still quite new to me. This was the first time I kept shooting after sunset. It was so dark that AF no longer worked. Instead focus was based on the distance scale, which turns out is way off. That made the hyperfocal settings off. Other people were on the pier causing vibrations. The RAW was pretty soft but it is still one of my favorite shots.

Thanks. If it's too dark for auto focus use manual focus with Live View and the 10x magnification. This will get it tac sharp. It'll also reduce vibration because the mirror is already 'locked up'

thanks katgrl82, I appreciate the kind words!

I really like your work too especially 2,4 and 5. My fav is 2 though, I really like the separation of colours and the tree really stands out for me. Good luck for 2013.

Thanks Jedi5150! It is Independence Pass in Colorado between Twin Lakes and Aspen. This shot was actually taken out the window of a Jeep while climbing up toward the summit. It was in May, just a couple days after the road opened for the year.

Thanks for the advice. At the time I couldn't see the LCD clearly enough to determine focus but could see it well enough for exposure thanks to blinkies. New glasses fixed that but I still haven't mastered manual focus with 10x Live View. It is still easier for me to autofocus on something that is lit, or temporarily lit, then turn off autofocus. But I keep trying. ;) Mirror lockup was used along with the two second timer and remote shutter release but people were still moving about on the pier.
