That's really nice. There's an almost painterly quality to it.

If I was going to nit-pick (and this is just my opinion so please ignore!) I'm not sure about the hard shadow, and I would have perhaps straightened the door frame.

Edit: Having looked through your Flickr photostream, I don't think I'm in any position to nit-pick. You obviously know how to take a great portrait!

I love my 50/1.4. Can anyone comment on the justification of trading up to a 50/1.2? Would it be worth it for someone who loves the focal length? I tend to shoot at 1.8 or above with mine as the quality and sharpness increase drastically from 1.4. Are y'all shooting with this thing wide open?

There's just a certain je'ne sais quoi about the images this lens produces. It's not the sharpest 50mm out there (I believe the Sigma is sharper), but the OOF smoothness has no equal.

If you feel like you need to justify its purchase, then perhaps you shouldn't bother. Same goes if you want the absolute sharpest image.

Don't get me wrong, it's fairly sharp even at 1.2 and is fantastic by 1.6 and above. But you don't buy and use this lens because of that.
