Literally the first shot I took with the Big Stopper, although I've owned it for nearly a year now.

Oh really? You will enjoy Cloudland if you haven't been there, although based on my short excursion Sunday afternoon it may be a little early yet for that elevation. Unless something falls through I'm headed to Hilton Head this weekend and hope to work in some eastern shore work while I'm there. If I were going to be in town I'd run up as well, it's a wonderful place to shoot and I've only shot the two main falls.

Yes, I took quite the hiatus, for many reasons, but the juices are flowing again. Thanks for the kind words :)

This will be my third trip to Cloudland. Great place. A friend lives near there and says the trees are starting.

Here's a 3 min exposure of the Golden Gate Bridge...this is the only one that is in perfect focus, the waves made it tough to keep the tripod in one place!

I did a B&W conversion because since it is such a long shutter speed and is so flat.

I have seen and read light leak on the 5DMKIII, from what I read you need to put gaffers tape over a couple of the ports that are exposed, and cover the viewfinder.

I have had this occur on a couple of occasions and it was generally when the sun was behind or hitting the viewfinder - I now try to remember to cover that up on long exposures.... in both occasions it was when the BS was on...

Nice, where in Marin did you take that? I tried a 4 min but the fine details of the bridge were blurred since I was in the surf and the tide was rising.

I was at Fort Baker on the pier closest to the GG Bridge. I got wet earlier in the day when a wave got me while shooting a starfish.

Cool, the surf this past weekend was a lot rougher than usual probably due to the storm. My shoes and filter bag are still wet.

I need to make it out to Fort Baker some time...it might be an interesting vantage point at sunset on a clear day.

I was wanting to be there at sunset, but I'd been out for long enough and needed to get back home, so I left a few hours before it went down. I think it would be a nice spot for sunset pics. Maybe I'll get back there another time.

That's the nice part about living in the city! I'm trying to take advantage of it before I move back to the peninsula.
