Hi Guys, Back from Holiday in Austria / Italy.
Some great pictures here. Also nice to see some old faces. Pete, Tim, Tony, Cliff.
Wasn't my best holiday ever as i injured my foot and shoulder on the first day where the doctor said I should try not to use my foot or shoulder for 2 weeks.
Then I got run over by a windsurfer when standing in the water (Actually it was my son) . I managed to break off 2 windsurfer fins with my Knee.
Also the weather was Crap.

So I am back in the office now to recuperate from my holiday.

Had another go at chasing the milky way a few days ago. First attempt was half hearted as we had just returned from a scouting trip and the next we were pounced upon by the super moon. Hehehe

Anyway, here's the best I could muster, the milky way rising from Pencarrow, Wellington.

Thanks Chris. Looking at your list of advice above, I figure I must be something alright because I've covered pretty much all of that already bar one or two smaller items. I'm also contacting the DJ for the night to hook into his sound gear for speech audio and the groom is going to be wired too. One of my biggest concerns has actually been audio.

I'm also contacting the photographer to let him/her know that I will be there doing my thing and will likely be shadowing him/her during and in-between photo sessions in order to capture those candid moments of bridal/groom parties.

Thanks again for the advice, some really good stuff in there for me.

Cliff

You're most welcome. :)

Glad to be of help.

Europe has so much light pollution that you can forget star photography. Also there are more stars visible from New Zealand anyway.

One from Auckland recently. It rained both days we were there but we took a chance to take a drive up to Piha and the weather was better.

I voted on Thursday instead. :)

what do you guys think of the 7Dmk2, any good?

I think while the canon sensors aren't the market leaders I think that the differences in what people are judging sensors on aren't and should be deal breakers.

I think the camera is quite nice, I would have like to seen an articulated screen (I don't care about touch) but apart from that if I was after a APS-C size sensor camera I would go for this.

The AF system looks top notch.

Liking the warm weather finally. We moved to NZ right at the end of the English winter, so it has been 12 months without summer for us.

Went out to Sharplin Falls last week -- quite otherworldly to be in such a lush environment.
