Can someone explain to me what these Nikon threads do around the EOS forum?

If you read into the forum rules, this forum welcomes all brands of cameras and not just Canon! I've shot most of the brands out there and exclusively shoot Nikon, Sony, and Phase One. I do own some Canon glass but it's mated to my A7r,A7, and A7s!

And many of us shoot multiple systems and are less concerned with brand loyalty and more concerned with image quality and performance.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

I think it says a lot for our community and how it's managed when Nikon owners would rather discuss their equipment in a Canon EOS forum instead of one that is Nikon oriented.

If I had a Nikon camera, I'd be over in one of the Oly forums looking for pointers rather than on a Canon forum. But hey, that's just me :)

Hi, I am sorry you saw one Nikon thread in the EOS forum.

In the future, if you have a concern regarding threads being out of place, please feel free to report the thread for moving by clicking on the little red triangle found under the avatar of each post.

This thread was also out of place and has been reported and moved to the correct place to discuss forum matters.

Likewise, use the report function to point any posts that seem out of place. We don't read all threads, but we do read all reports.

I did not know that, if it comes to that i'll have a option.
But thinking of it, was'nt this forum meant to be so in the first place?
Multi brand usually gets annoying, full of bashing.
Just look at miranda and dpreview

"AMASS!!" (see my sig) lets you filter out forums you do not like to see, so if you do not want to see Nikon forums in any search results, galleries etc, you just tick them off.

As there will be separate areas for each brand, we'll start take trolling/bashing the "other side" much more strictly as we do now. To cater for a need to get into healthy brand debate I've decided to add couple of forums for it (which you can filter also out if you want):

Changing Camera Brands
Camera Vs. Camera

As we speak I test final steps of site upgrade process. Excpect to have some news soon :)

POTN is great resource for those who aren't just loyal to Canon. That's what makes this forum great. As someone else suggested stop reading posts with the word "Nikon" or "Sony" in it. ;)

That would make sense as they are all shot with Canon cameras.

I just wanted to add;

And it says do not push your views down other people's throats. That should be enforced more.

Yes, this has been my main focus on the forum for some months now.
The recent release of the 7D2 has stirred up a lot of discussion, most good, some of it not so helpful. Action has been and will continue to be taken.

When we move to the new forum, enforcement will be more straightforward, as we will have more sandboxes to play in. But, we are getting a head start on the possible increase due to the opening up to more diverse audience now. We are not going to allow cross forum brand warfare!

That said, in the mean time, please report or PM to me any time you feel anything other than your lunch being forced down your throat. I will stop it! We try not to make our actions public, but rest assured many of the problem people that have pushing their brands down peoples throats have been talked to and or given suspensions in recent months.
