Thanks Vinz and David. I'm trying out the Topaz Impressions plugin. I like the control it gives but at this point, I think the subject matter is key to the success of the look. I'm not sure yet whether I would use Impressions often enough to warrant the cost. I'll continue evaluating the looks I can get on a variety of subject types.

I have done additional editing both before and after applying the Topaz effects. The photos I've edited were taken at Mission Capistrano by the way.

^That last one is beautiful Vinz!

It's pretty cool and a lot more advanced than most turn-photos-into-painting applications. Like Gene, I don't know if I'm going shell out $99 for it, but it is a lot of fun to play with. :D

I borrowed a friend's D810 today. I wanted to take it to the park and take some test shots with the 14-24 mounted to the D810 and a7R to see any differences. Yikes. I really prefer the D810 files. Admittedly my test lab (the park) had changing light conditions, but throughout all my shots (I shot at f/2.8 and f/8) the D810 shots had more clarity. It wasn't a huge difference, but my non-photographer wife also preferred the D810 images more.

I like your 'paintings' Vinz.

David, will you be posting any D810 sample shots at your Flickr page?
