stopped by the winter gardens here on the way back from the office today, decided to try some focus stacking for the first time.
only had three images to work with, any advice would be nice :)

I think the only thing I would say to watch out for is Chromatic Aberration(CA). If you look on the left side of the flower, there is that blue coloration. That is CA and is usually corrected pretty easily in most processing software packages.
The shot has an interesting look to it, which is likely from the focus stack. Just keep practicing and see if you can get it be more than the three shots you go with this one.

Great shots Zen! Is that from Poulson pier? Ever run into security there? I've heard they can be quick to shoo the photographers away.

Thanks Jose! Never have had any issues with security there. The parking lot is now fenced completely off but you can access the boardwalk with no problem. I also tend to go on nights when the club isn't open and later on when there are less people milling about.

Hi Sirquack, I was wondering what that blue may have been, thanks for that, will do a search and have a play at removing it :)
Will definitely practice more, is a bit of fun :)

Thanks for the advice

We went for an awesome walk in Auckland's Waitakere Ranges at Piha to the Kitekite waterfall. Stepped off the walking track for a couple of shots.

I blew out the highlights, for some reason I had + 1 1/3 exposure compensation on :( Managed to pull a bit back with Lightroom.

It cleans up easy once you have the right tools. And I have thought about getting into focus stacking, but the set up can be expensive if you really get into it. And I am a bit of a cheapo.
