David, you're really making me want that Voigtlander 40mm! I gotta sell the a7R first though... then I'm torn between saving some pennies on that 40mm or getting the FE 55mm... then there's also the FE 28mm coming next month, Qual der Wahl... -?

All I know is that the Olympus Pen F 38mm I got does awesome in the center, but the edges definitely get soft fast, that became clear after last weekend. It works great for shooting people, unfortunately it's not too good for much else

Great light in both shots. That really helps set a mood, especially the torpedo room shot.

Thanks a lot Gene! The sub tour was the best of the day. Cant believe they crammed close to 100 members in those quarters. It was just the tour guide, my fiancee and myself which gave you a feeling of already feeling tight.

Seems everywhere I travel there is landscape and since the A7r (to me) is a landscape body it goes too. But there is always a macro opportunity and I don't like taking the 100 2.8, so my travel macro is the dinky doo Tamron 60mm (which I freaking love), an example of its output-

Nice mm, is that 60mm a full frame lens? Been thinking of a dual purpose lens like the 100mm MP from Zeiss to replace both my portrait lenses..... However on the fence and waiting for Sony to make its move.

Zeiss lenses frequently are hyped for their "microcontrast", and generally I think that is valid, but the MP 100mm is a real stand-out in that category.

Any interest in the upcoming FE 90mm f/2.8 macro?

naw, not fast enough for a portrait. I think the balance of F2 and 1:2 macro ability of the zeiss is a sweet spot for me. I dont really do macro often, however love having a portrait and macro lens for my incidental hikes, and general walk around lens.

been thinking about consolidating lenses, however it'll be a tough decision, since I really love my portrait lenses. Another option is the 50MP, since 50mm is so useful, and borderline favorite focal length..... I'll have to do some soul searching, or do what you do and buy them all and sell them off :p

1:2 macro is more than adequate for me as well. I don't have that much aspiration to photograph bugs. ;-)a I agree f/2.8 is at least a stop slower than I would prefer. In all likelihood I will wait for the 85mm f/1.8 and hope it is an optical match for the excellent FE 55mm f/1.8. My desire is to add two more fast primes to my FE lens lineup: a medium wide-angle (25 or 28 or 35mm) and a medium telephoto. Three well-spaced FE fast primes along with the three FE f/4 zooms will make for a satisfying nice all-around kit, I think.

I have indeed done a lot of buying and selling - and have still a good deal of it left to do.

guys how do you like my retouching craft? any cc helps.

I'm accepting high-end retouching now. I already have one studio locally as my client. it's fun. extra money working at home.

I thought if one is in photography business, he should stay more often behind the camera, not behind the computer.

shot with sony A7R+ Canon 135L wide open.

Hey Vincent to me so far i like the work you do. You aren't too aggressive on skin smoothing which is what i pay attention to the most.
