While birding in the Santa Monica Mountains, CA, I came upon this Coyote on the trail. At first we both just stood still, then I started talking in a low voice while setting up my camera which somehow cause him not to move. After the photos, he bounded off. Not the normal Coyote behavior.

Hey Corndog,

It may not be normal Coyote behavior but I have found that a number of species will put up with slow movements and a calm voice. That combination seemed to work for you as you scored a nice shot of a skittish creature!

Nice shot with some nice detail
I would not be alarmed at its actions as probably just curiosity is all.
