End of the day, threatening rain, darkness approaching.....I had to set the shutter speed way down to lower the ISO as much as I could, or it would have been in the thousands .....the first one was taken before I got the shutter speed lowered.

Thanks folks....some sun at that time of day (dusk) sure would have helped; these were mostly, except for that first one, taken at 1/100 or 1/125 sec.

A tough bird to get good shots of. It's been my experience that they are extremely shy of humans and hard to get close to.

Thanks Justin, you're so right. I think they were avoiding me when I was just sitting there in my truck, window open, camera sitting on a beanbag in the window. So I cut a 2 foot piece off the end of a piece of mesh net, hung that over the car window opening and let it drape around the lens, and he flew right up and landed without a worry in the world.
