She was fishing from a favourite perch....same one her hubby was at a couple of days ago...I tried telling her not to play with her food, but.....

If you've watched Kingfishers, if the fish is wriggling too much to swallow, they'll bash it on a limb to subdue it before swallowing......this was bashing #2 or #3...

You're becoming a kingfisher master, Ian. Great shots. I think they thwap the fish most that have bony fins or something like a bullhead that has spines. I've seen them devour shiner minnows with n'ary a thwap.
