You didn't find it too wide say compared to a 50mm? I used to shoot 35mm all the time at weddings but found it too wide...or perhaps I wasn't hitting focus that well b.c. I had a Sigma. Not sure, but it worked well unless I wanted to isolate the subject or things get too crowded - then a narrower focal length would work better for me.
I think a 50 would work similarly, but I like the 35's ability to put you right up in people's faces (particularly on the dance floor). The way I see it is that you shouldn't want too much separation at a wedding. The environment is what it's all about. Of course, a little bokeh is nice. My 85 1.8 and 135 f2 were also useful in getting candids, though.
