1. I've been paging through this thread and lusting for a week. Great work y'all.
2. My wife had a baby in January, our first. I have been wanting a wider prime for indoor and low light stuff.
3. I just joined the club! Looking forward to being a part of this family!

Cheers

Welcome! It's a great choice for just that.

In fact, I took the first photo of my son with this lens!

Thx!

After my first day, I'm in love.
I just can't get the hood to keep tight, when shooting.
When hood is reversed, it's snug.

Are you positive the hood is fully secured? I remember my first days with the lens, I thought the hood didn't fit very well and had the same issue, but it turns out you really have to rotate that bad boy to get it tight, and it should make an audible click when it is into place. I felt stupid when I figured that out, I simply wasn't rotating hard enough to make it click..... but you'd be surprised how many people throughout the lens thread had questions about this!

Did you post about it too? I think I replied the same thing.

Anyhow there are markings on the lens hood that show you when it's fully rotated on and there is a snug lock when it is.

mine is tight to lock into position but getting it off is even harder. there's no way it'll ever come off on its own accord

Very true. If it's coming off then it's probably not locked in place.

Some time off with my kids during the weekend, needed to check the adjustments I made to the AF using the dock, just there now.
