One of these days, the eagle will decide to try for a fish that's closer than 300 yards away from me! Shame he was so far away, the river was calm, and sun was almost setting.

Haha, thanks Bob. I'd rather have to take the extender off and get some a lot closer.

Great action series Ian. You managed to freeze the action really well at 1/1250th, that's impressive. I sure would like to be able to shoot at ISO 2500 in the early morning hours. I think about the 1DX every time I'm struggling for shutter speed, mane I'll pick up a used one some day.

Thanks very much Steve. As the light was disappearing I was watching where my ISO was going to have to be to get any kind of a shot. I figured I could work with ISO 2000 or 2500, so one 1250th of the second was as fast as I could go. I can't imagine what your shots would look like with a 1DX :-)

Great gear, great photographer, great subject- this is what you get regardless of distance. Well done, Ian.

Great shots as usual, Ian.

BTW ... I am still waiting for my "one of these days", too. One time I witnessed about 7 or 8 fishing events in less than an hour. However, they were so far away that they might as well take place in the next county.
