I've seen several of these for sale here for $800. Seems like a lot of hassle to make a hundred bucks.

Tigerkn wrote in post #17813919 (external link)
I do not think it is a hundred bucks after PP fee, shipping and insurance. It is more fetty cents :)

I ended up selling mine locally for 750. Well end up just telling the buyer 740 just because.

The purpose of this was not to pocket money but to try the lens out.

I always ship insured and signatured and after all that and fees the net would of been in the 750 range.

Two shippings, one lens. The shipping carriers make money.

I'm still surprised at the low cost these days. Yea they make money but the original shipper has an account that ships at a much reduced rate

Did you find the AF tracking to be worse than your tsmron then?

Not sure if you're asking me, I did not have a chance to test AF tracking.

I sold mine too a couple of days ago. Netted $46.00 after selling it for the asking price of $800. I am happy that I was able to test it, make the tough decision to keep my good Tamron, and not lose money on the whole thing. And my buyer also got a nice deal on a good lens.

I played with mine a little today. Did a few comparison shots with the Tamron, but not under ideal conditions. A dark and rainy day. When I first started shooting, the Sigma seemed to be the clear winner. I've had problems with the Tamron focus hunting. Then I remembered I had my UV filter on the Tamron, so I removed it to compare both without filters, and the Tamron wasn't focus hunting anymore. So all these months I've had that lens with the filter on and have been frustrated with the focus hunting, not realizing it was my filter causing it.

The Tamron seems a little sharper than the Sigma. The Sigma gives a nicer background. The Tamron shoots warmer, which I like.

The Sigma has a panning mode. The Tamron doesn't. I think the Sigma can also be used with a TC, while the Tamron can't. Haven't looked into this for sure yet.

I prefer the direction of the focus ring on the Sigma. I prefer the tripod foot of the Tamron. I usually carry the camera/lens combo by the tripod foot when I'm walking, and the larger foot on the Sigma lets me wrap my whole hand around it so I don't fear dropping it. Can't get quite as good a grip on the smaller Sigma foot. Haven't tried swapping them yet to see if one will fit the other.

Haven't quite made up my mind which one to keep. I want to try shooting under better conditions before I decide. I was hoping there would be a clear winner, but there isn't.

Had a play with the Dock, Dynamic does indeed make the OS more solid in the view finder. I really like the ability to assign different AF ans OS profiles to the two custom settings.

It seems that using dynamic OS is in effect slowing the process down a bit, so my thinking is that Dynamic should be used with Focus priority in a custom setting, and focus speed should be used with the most reduced OS setting. Just theorizing.
