I find it hard to describe how nice it was to get beyond the city limits and find a horizon today. A nice combination of streaming gulf moisture and an eastbound cold front made for an interesting sky. This scene deserved a tripod and remote release - I will try to be prepared next time.

They are for JPGs, but for these 2 that I posted, I used just a couple different runs of Noiseware, along with some sharpening, etc. The Toys for Tots was run through my action though.

I must say you are getting excellent results with Noiseware @ 12,800

Additionally I believe you said you use Dpp as your raw converter

1) Can you elaborate a little why those two....

2) Do you get even better results with raw using your workflow of Dpp & Noiseware

3) Why Dpp vs Lightroom, I know Art Morris (wildlife tog) swears by Dpp

I tried LR back in the day (LR3 I think), and never got into that workflow. I also dug into Noiseware, and with something close to 40 sliders that allow you to control noise in any part of the image, I ended up just going with DPP to tweak the raw results in a way I could not get in-camera, then build an action in Photoshop that took those files and manipulated the noise/sharpness on each color channel, depending on what body I was using. It just became a "thing" with me. :)

The in-camera JPGs are much better now these days than in the past, and for many of the sports shots, I am not even getting back to the raw. The 5D3 and 7D2 handle the high ISO noise and JPG generation in a better way than the past, and I am able to just use noiseware and some USM to clean them up, for the most part. If I want to produce the results I did in the 2 action shots, I go back to my full workflow.

Hi all,

Just been looking at your wonderful images.

I've been out of the game for 4 years now due to having to sell my gear to get through tough times.

However I have just purchased a 7D ll + a 100-400 L ll

Hoping this combo serves me well, and so happy to be back on this forum and partaking in such a fantastic hobby. :-)

Sean

Thanks!

I call this guy Fang. I have nick-named him as I have seen him many times over the last several months:

For MedicineMan

My front yard this morning. I posted the woodpecker photos elsewhere but this guy was running with the woodpecker in my oak tree... 7D2 plus Canon 400 5.6 with 1.4 Kenko. This was a VERY narrow window of opportunity as I was actually leaving the house this morning. I was late.!!!!
