The Hi Power was the issued side arm? Nice. Glad you had the opportunity to shoot the S&W 586/686, these are fantastic wheel guns.

Yes the Browning 9mm was the issue sidearm for British forces for about 40 years I think. They have gone over to the Sig P226 now, well I think it's the P226 model. My 586 was a fairly early model and didn't have the red insert in the frontsight. I think it also had a blued trigger and cylinder release. I used to shoot really light 38sp match loads through mine, a 148gr HBWC over 2.1gr of Vihtavuori N310 powder in W-W cases and Federal primers. I used to shoot about 150 rounds per week at the club on average, although it was only for fun. At the time I was a serious 3P rifle shooter so that took up most of my shooting time.

Alan

Oh and thanks for posting the picture, I have been waiting ages for someone to post a 586 on this thread.

Those sound like fun loads to shoot through the 586. Happy to have a pic of a firearm you enjoyed shooting.

Apex trigger in the shield? I keep meaning to do that to mine.

So you did the tactical enhancement upgrade or whatever they call it? just sucks that costs 1/3 what the gun does.

Replaced the springs, sear and trigger. So yeah. It makes the gun that much better. But I don't think it's necessary. It's a decent gun out of the box

Nice Shield and image.

After shooting Glocks my 9c was like a dream out of the box. I did do a fluff and buff and got Smith & Wesson to send me the "dry-fire proof" striker when they released it.

Sorry for the bland pics, just wanted to show off some of my toys.

Gen 3 Glock 23 "Dark Earth" - still dirty from the range

Berretta 92FS - just added to collection. Most accurate 9mm I've shot to date.

Now that I've noticed, I should have taken the pics with them facing the other way. Going to take them out and get some cooler shots this weekend.

Enjoying these images. I am looking to pick up my first handgun in the next two months or so; either a Glock 17 or the Springfield XD mod.2 4". Excited to join in here soon!
